Bill Gates and Warren Buffet have teamed up to create a way for millionaires and billionaires to give their money away to charity. They have set up an organization called The Giving Pledge. This organization asks the richest people in the world to pledge to donate 50% or more of their wealth to charitable organizations of their choosing.
What is really inspiring about the way that the organization is set up is that it isn’t entirely about the money. Each participant who joins the cause is ask to write a letter describing their intent. This includes information about why they have chosen to give to the charities that they have selected. These letters offer others insight into the reasons to help people less fortunate than they are. The people who participate in t he program can choose to give away their money during their lifetimes or after their deaths. Either way, the letters they write, and their commitment to donate can help set off a chain of donations from other people.
There are a lot of millionaires who give away their money. It makes sense that there would also be a lot of billionaires who give away their money. In fact, in the two months that the organization has been up and running, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet have convinced more than thirty billionaires to commit to giving away a majority of their funds. Some of the well-known names that have joined the organization include director George Lucas, the mayor of New York City Michael Bloomberg, founder of tech-company Oracle Larry Ellison and media mogul Ted Turner. Of course, Gates and Buffet themselves are also on the list.
The rich people who participate in the organization aren’t under any actual contractual obligation to give away their money. However, by signing up with the organization, they are stating publicly their intention to do so. Failure to do so would clearly reflect badly on their famous family names.

I lossed my job.I have found a new one.But I got behind on my morgage.My new job is enough to pay monthly bills,gas,and food.I like to pay off my morgage completely and not lose my house due to forcloser.I also am trying to start my own busness on the side as a WI. fishing guide.Is there anyone that could help me out to the total of $115,000.Of which $114′000 goes for paying the house off and a $1,000 goes for the expence of getting a physical,US Coast Guard captains license permit and advertising(including website,busness card,and newpaper ads).

I’ve worked hard all my life. I’ve had to stand back while seeing others get ahead/take vacations/have nice homes etc…Me and my husband have raised 7 children of our own and helped raise 4 more which makes 11. We have never asked for money from people but when the need was there we just worked harder and tried to get through it. All our children work but are not rich they just make ends meet also. My old 1954 trailer is falling down around us, its cold in the winter and hot is the summer and we still never asked. We love God and would pray for the help we needed and someway we would get through at times bearly but would get through. This type of life is not living its just getting through to the next day and it can be very hard. My husband is 75 years old and can’t work anymore while I’m 57, yes there is a age differents. Now we find one of our sons in die and need of help we have no money so our credit cards have been ran up, I’m out of a job and trying to find one but as you get older you realize these jobs only want the young people and not the old, so I find that I can’t find a job so far even through I’ve tried for 5 months. It brakes my heart that I’m no good to my son and can’t help him so far. I continue to pray and believe God will help or send help. There are so many people out there that sometimes just a little bit of money could make a big differents in their lives. Some have life or death problems on their hands. My son may go to prison for the rest of his life for something he didn’t do “really didn’t do”, but worldly/hatefull/lusty etc…people can do this to you sometimes for their gain and not care or look back to whos life you have distroyed. Now I find myself at 57 needing 45 thousand dollars just for his lawyer and 20 thousand to get out of credit card debit. I left my home, husband and children to come to this state to help but not helping becouse I cant find a job. Living with someone else is not home, but at least I have a bed to sleep in at nights. WE CANT GIVE UP. I WILL PRAY AND KEEP ALL OF YOU ON MY HEART. GOD BLESS US ALL AND SEND HELP. LOVE AND PRAYERS.

Let me ask you a question.Have you ever wonder where your next meal is comming from or how you are going to stay warm or if your kids are going to be ok cause you have no money to pay for the things you realy need now that you are rich.I have tryed to get money from someone who has the money to give but no luck all i was asking for was 3,450 dollars to get a warm place to live i realy dont think anyone with money just give it away but i’ll try anything once if anyone can help me please let me know.

Know one on this page just gives money and how do i know that because i ask for money for Christmas and never seen it and now i tryed to ask someone to help me pay my bills i owe 3,450 dollars and i know i won’t see that eather i have to worry all the time about money i wish for once these people who have money would walk in our shoes for once and see how it is to worry every day about where your next meal is comming from and where the money is going to come from to pay all your bills.

I would like to discover the means to be able to get money from those well to do individuals, in order to fund advertising for my online businesses, so that I can quit my job, whom has reduced my hours to less than 40 hours per week, off of Minimum wage income. I pay Child support for my 2 children to the State of Texas, which leaves me nothing to be able to buy gifts for my children for Christmas, which I have dome since they were born. They are now 13 and 17 years of age. I have no vehicle of my own and I was homeless in 2009, after losing my job of 13 years in 2008. I was diagnosed with “Multiple Sclerosis” in 2006, which left partially blind in my left eye. I need a way out of this suppressive job, so I can return to the state of Texas to help raise my 2 children who live with their Mother. I believe I can make a good income from home, if I’m provided the funding to do so. I just don’t make enough money and I cannot work two jobs due to Transportation and health problems. My mortgage is behind. My husband died when my twins were one. They are now 12 and I have hung on for a very long time. I would like to get help with paying my mortgage because I have fears of not having a place to live when my girls turn 18. I work two jobs, one full time, 1 part time. It still won’t be enough when the girls turn 18 and I don’t get the social security as well. We are very good, churchgoing people and I hope life gets better financially. Reading about this project made me wonder if there is an underlying reason why these billionaires would want to give up their money. I guess it really comes down to them wanting to do good in the world, which is really nice to hear.

I’m a South African 39 year old man. I have a 9 year old son and we are expecting our second child in Jan 2011. I’m a Construction Manager and my wife a Events Coordinator. My story is simple. I need money to start a company and obviously to provide security for my children one day. I’m working my ass of for a company that just does not appreciate it. How about giving rich people a choice to give away their money for a cause to a particular category – like for examples, children, young peopole, women, men, disadvantaged, refugees, unemployed, disabled etc…. list goes on…
Just a thought.
