A recent report by Performics tells us that sixty percent of a study’s respondents are spending as much or more money on online shopping this year as they did one year ago. This is a surprise to a lot of people who have believed that the recession has caused people to cut back on both their offline and online spending. The fact seems to be that people still need to do some basic shopping (particularly for household items) and that they are doing that shopping online.

Perhaps one of the reasons that people are maintaining their online shopping habits is because it is so easy to save money with discount codes when shopping online. Almost seventy percent of the people surveyed said that they do use online coupons when they shop through the Internet. Online shopping may be a way for them to get more for their money since savings can be easier to find and use when shopping on the Internet than when shopping in physical stores.

Another interesting opinion to come out of the study is that a large percentage of the respondents (about eighty five percent) believe that the recession is going to have a lasting impact on their spending habits even after the economic problems have come to an end. This indicates that online shopping with the use of promotional codes is probably going to remain the same or increase over time regardless of what happens with the recession.
