I found the coolest Mother's Day gift at Alessi and can't wait til mum sees it. It's a tea strainer that looks like a bird cage. Really it's the most fantastic thing I've ever seen but maybe I don't get out much! It has a little bird inside of it even. For 67 quid I suppose it SHOULD be cool, but I'm willing to pay a bit more for a unique gift. I always found great things from Alessi's site for my own kitchen or for gifts and this time they've done me well again. The strainer arrived just a few days after I ordered it and I could hardly restrain myself from giving it a go myself!

I received a set of cheese knives from Alessi as a wedding gift and they’ve been brilliant. To be honest I’d never even heard of the company, but after we received the knives I went on their website and wound up buying several items for our new home. We’ve been slow to set up the house since we both have a particular design sense (modern) but Alessi seems to have the exact look we are going for. Although the prices can be a bit high, the quality is top-notch so I don’t mind paying more for a nicely designed product that I know will hold up over the years.

The only problem with the Alessi website is that I always find something new I want to buy! There are so many fab items from which to choose. Currently we own one of the red metal fruit bowls, which has quite an interesting branch-like design to it, along with the Mediterraneo kitchen boxes that match the pattern on the bowl and a really fantastic miniature silver colander that looks almost like a spaceship. I’ve been really happy with all of the products from Alessi so far. Once we get ourselves settled I plan on buying a clock for our kitchen as well as more of the Mediterraneo accessories.
