After moving from a small flat to a fairly large home, my boyfriend and I had a lot of decorating to do. I’d bought some posters from Allposters back when I was a student, so I thought to look there for some ideas.

While they still have loads of music and movie posters, I was surprised to see that Allposters does have a large selection of nicer framed prints and artwork, as well as mirrors and other wall hangings. We bought a framed Andy Warhol print for the kitchen along with several framed prints of florals to go in the bathroom and a large patchwork floral tapestry hanging for the master bedroom.

I was really pleased with the quality of the prints and especially with the tapestry, as it looks rather high-end, not like something you’d hang in a dormitory. I also appreciated the fact that the site offers free shipping. I tend to avoid shopping online if I know I can buy an item in a store, since I hate the thought of paying the delivery costs. Luckily this is not an issue with Allposters and the items arrived within two days of ordering. Very satisfied with my purchases.

I recently had my 40th birthday party, and I hosted a big 80s-style party for my friends and neighbours. To decorate, I decided to order in posters from the era. This site has loads on offer from the 1980s, but they were difficult to find. Rather than having a section by era, I needed to know the title of each one I was searching for. I did find a lot of good ones, and they were delivered in plenty of time for the party. But I would have much preferred being able to type in “eighties” and see a bunch of great posters pop up – and it might have given me ideas of movies I had forgotten about. That said, some of the posters are quite pricey, so it’s best to look carefully and check the deals. Overall, however, this site offers a good selection. And if I wasn’t looking for a specific theme, then the organisation would suit me fine as well.
