The credit card I was using over the past five years hadn’t given me much in the way of rewards, so I was on the hunt for a new rewards card without an annual fee. All of the cards I seemed to research had a fee, or very high interest rate. I saw an offer for the American Express Platinum Cashback card and did a bit of research. The attractive bits of the card for me personally were 5% cash back in the first 3 months and zero interest for the first 6 months so that really sold me on the Amex.

One of the features of the website that also helped me make my decision was the online calculator. You enter in your monthly spend for things like petrol, holidays, dining and groceries and the calculator tells you how much you’d receive in cash back if placing those items on your Amex. When all was said and done the average cash back was nearly 400 pounds, so I decided to apply for the card straight away. The online application was easy to complete and took only five minutes. Now that I have my Amex I won’t be going back to other credit card companies as the rewards are so much easier to earn and use.
