My parents recently divorced and I thought a lovely ring or some earrings from Astley Clarke would cheer her up on Valentine's Day. My brother and I had to go in together, as we'd never spend that much normally on a gift, but fortunately I spotted a sterling silver jewellery collection and thought that would be fab, as they're lower priced. They had a good selection of earrings and even some at 40 or 50 quid, but I wanted something a bit more special. We wound up getting her the Elements drop earrings which look like they'll be nice for daytime wear or dressing up if maybe she goes on a date or the like. Loved the gemstones and they were £125, so not too terrible on the price. They just arrived and I'm so pleased with them, I hope mum loves them as well.

On a side note the site even feels posh when you're shopping on it - so brilliant job there! Also appreciated how the checkout was dead simple and all on one page. I hate going through so many screens just to fill out my information, and they don't require you to register either which is fantastic for saving time.

My wife has been dropping hints about this Astley Clarke opal ring she saw in a magazine and how much she loved it. Being absolutely clueless I headed to the Astley Clarke website to locate the ring. It took me ages to find it since I wasn’t sure where to look and they had loads of categories of rings (I eventually located it under ‘cocktail rings’) and was blown away by the price. I didn’t even spend that much on her engagement ring!

I decided I would just buy her a less expensive ring and went to sort the options by price. Unfortunately the lowest option was to sort from 0 to £1,000. After looking through these options they did have a good variety of rings around 200; the only problem is that they were gold vermeil and not real gold. I refuse to spend that much money on a piece of jewellery that isn’t even solid, so I wound up finding a sterling silver and pink pearl ring which at least had a similar colour scheme to the one she wanted. The ring arrived in only one day and I have to admit it is really fab, I just wish that I hadn’t felt the need to spend 245 pounds on a silver ring just for the bragging rights of owning an Astley Clarke.
