I have an old Arts & Crafts style china cabinet that I love, but I know that the cabinet handle and lock are not original, so I’ve always thought I’d replace them when I found the right selection of that era’s door furniture. Well, my hopes were raised when I ran across Bernards Door Furniture. Sadly, however, the web site is not set up so well. The search engine doesn’t work terribly well, and it’s impossible to sort by era or style. You basically have to go through each entire section to try and locate what you’re looking for. In fact, it looks like an old plumbers' catalog the way it's designed. Nearly all the “antique” style pieces just say “antique” or “Tudor” – broad ranges both. I did finally find something to put on my cabinet, and it works pretty well, so I’m pleased in that sense. At least I’ve finally replaced what I’ve been planning to for years. But this site could be better organised and offer better visuals.
