Prices of air tickets are on the increase everywhere. Almost every airline in the country has raised the price of air tickets recently. And now most of them expect us to pay for our luggage also. Is it possible to get cheaper airfares today? Difficult but not impossible.

One of the first things when you click on the internet is that there are 100s of travel agencies on the internet. Each one promising the lowest airfares. This was true in the past but not anymore. The best way to get the cheapest air tickets is to go directly to the airline itself; one can go and browse their website and search. Write down what the fares are and then compare them to other airlines. The reason airlines are now cheaper than travel agencies is that the airlines do not have to pay commission to these travel agents for booking tickets. The airlines now do the bookings themselves and save the money.

Only in the very rare case is a travel agent cheaper than the airline. Going to a travel agent is easy and less hassles because they do all the work, but if you can spend time, go directly to the airline. Today, many airlines offer packages when you buy your ticket. Some offer discount rental cars and hotel rooms. And in most cases, these package deals are much cheaper than what the travel agents offer. The only sure way to know is to check it out yourself.

Another good way to save money is to use a promotional code, which will give you money off your airfair, parking or hotel. For example we have the following discount codes for holidays: Warner Leisure Hotels offer code, Travelodge Promotional Code, National Express Promotional Code, The Trainline Promotional Code, Ramada Jarvis Offer Code, and finally a Emirates Promotional Code.

My folks now live in Spain so I often try to get over there. Understandably I look for any discounts possible and use Ryanair mostly as booked well in advance I usually get my flights for £0.00! Be carefeul with taxes though, as even if the flights themselves are free, it still costs around £60 for a return trip, which is still brilliant by the way!

WOW! I thought it was the other way around. I almost made the mistake of using a travel agent for my family vacation to Negril, Jamaica. It look more cost effective to use a travel agent, but I guess that was just a ploy to reel in the sales. I’m glad I read this blog.
