I found their site easy to use when researching models and deciding what we needed. My old car had a built-in sat nav, but since we downsized to a less expensive vehicle, I had to go out and buy a sat nav to go with it. I looked over loads of them and although it was certainly pricey, it's less than having one installed. The site had everything I needed, but I found it to be somewhat cluttered, although that's maybe personal preference when it comes to design. Happy with my new sat nav, so that's the important bit!

Normally I hate buying gadgets like SatNav or GPS or even music-related electronics without being able to talk to a sales assistant and get a better idea of the technology. But Garmin’s website provides such details about all of its products. I just bought two navigation systems for our cars, and I know for a fact that the price was lower at Garmin than it was for the same product in a local shop. And I was able to read all about the product before purchasing. The best feature of this site is the ability to compare across products. So if you click on three products and ask the site to compare them, you’ll get a side-by-side view of the pros and cons of each. It’s brilliant. Definitely better than relying on such information from the local shop assistants.

Considering my pastimes include many outdoor activities such as hiking, canoeing and even mountain climbing I had to try and find a GPS that could be used in all situations without compromising on the space I would usually need for essential equipment. The Garmin Montana 650c is the exact product that I needed for almost any activity. The claims made in their advertising is that the unit can be used almost anywhere and in all fairness I have yet to find a situation where it did not come in handy. With the mix of dirt and water playing a big part in my life I would have figured that something would eventually go wrong with my new GPS, sadly that is just a fact you have to deal with when spending so much of your life outdoors. That being said I am happy to report that after three months and several outdoor trips behind me and the Garmin Montana 650c is still going strong.
Although the price may seem a little steep for some, when you consider that most outdoor activities rely on you knowing where you are at every moment to stay safe, it is a small price to pay for making it home safe and sound after every trip.
In terms of the service provided by Garmin I have found nothing to fault them on. My order was delivered promptly and once I had the product in hand they were more than helpful when a situation arose, in all fairness a quick read of the manual would have rectified it but they customer service representative was more than happy to walk me through the set up process. I have owned several Garmin products and in general I find them all to be satisfactory. The only reason the Garmin Montana 650c does not get a perfect score from me is that it may be a little pricey when compared to similar models. This is no issue for me as I am extremely happy with the end result but I can see that being a problem for some people.
