A Convenient and Professional Set Up, 27 May 2011Review by Donald WilliamsAs I was already employed in the I.T. industry working freelance as a system admin and sometimes and I had wanted to enhance my prospects of gaining a higher paid position and an MCSE course was the natural progression for me.
I liked the idea of having the 280 hours of study spread out so that I could continue working and which meant that I could the afford to undertake the study which is often funded by employers but as a freelancer I have no such luxury. I also like the fact that you were afforded 180 hours of support from icslearn.co.uk which I will say is very generous as the course can be completed in the most part with just the learning materials that you are provided with.
On the handful of occasions that I did need to use the support I found that contact was quick and the resulting help more than enough to see me through any problems I came across. The course materials are on a par with any I have seen from a University and in some respects easier to understand. The video tutorials that were provided were very informative and I would encourage anyone to study this way given the choice.
Of course you don’t have the one on ones that you can sometimes get from a face to face tutor but in the most part you attend a lecture at University and rarely get the chance to ask questions.
The best thing about the course that I did was that it is an industry standard qualification that is recognised more than most formal qualifications from traditional learning institutes.
If I had to pick a problem with this type of course it would have to be that you have to contribute large amounts of personal motivation.
Now that I am reaping the rewards I can clearly see that it was worth sticking at through the times that I often considered quitting.
