When thinking about going on a holiday for Christmas, most people probably think about an exotic locale, but my mum (80 years young) can't travel very far these days. That being said I was put in charge of finding a cottage that the whole family could stay in together, that wouldn't be terribly far-flung from our home and accepted dogs. I wound up selecting Ash Barn in Braunton, which looks like a lovely property from the photos and reviews on the Mardsens site. They made it really user friendly to search for a property, and even had an image on the homepage about Christmas, so when I clicked on it straight away I could see properties open for Christmas week.

The price was well within our range, and it was easy enough to book it on their site. I'm very much looking forward to getting away with the family and enjoying some peace and quiet by the fireside!

If you’re looking for a quiet retreat and have an open mind about location, accommodation, etc., then give this a try. I booked a lovely cottage for four days in June, and I just went into it blind. I knew nothing about the area or what I’d be able to do other than sleep, and I was pleasantly surprised. The cottage was gorgeous, the service was fantastic, and I wasn’t bored for even a split second. It was s relaxing and yet fulfilling holiday.

Found a lovely cottage in North Cornwall for a romantic break with my wife and couldn't be more pleased with the service from Marsdens. They made it so easy to plan the weekend and I really liked the 'draw your search' tool on the site You could just click on the map and draw the area you want to concentrate your cottage search in - fantastic! I've never seen this feature on another website so kudos to Mardsens for staying ahead of the curve.
