Beautiful box sets of classics, 30 Nov 2011Review by BookLover460I've been aware of Penguin as a publishing house for nearly all my life but for some reason I didn't even dream that you could buy books straight from the publisher and always went straight to Amazon or my local branch of Waterstones to pick up a paperback. One day though when I was browsing in Waterstones I saw a lovely set of Jane Austen books with limited edition covers. The only set they had was slighty marked so I went home to see if I could get a new set on the internet, which is what led me to the Penguin website. I could see a few sets on the homepage but not the one I wanted. I spent a very frustrating half an hour searching for a page where I could look at all the sets they offer together, but alas, it seems like that doesn't exist. I eventually found the set and bought it, but was a little disgruntled about not being able to see what else was on offer. That having been said, I've been back a few times since and they always have wonderful gift ideas on their homepage so I'll definitely buy from them again. Packaging and delivery were faultless.

Wish I could pre-order the Dickens boxed set, 06 Oct 2011Review by Dickens fanWhen I heard Penguin was releasing a special boxed set of clothbound Dickens books to celebrate his forthcoming 200th birthday, I went straight to the Penguin site to preorder it. Unfortunately you could only enter your email to get notified when it's published; any other site I've been on lets you order and pay, then they deliver it once it's available. Annoying. The books themselves are gorgeous and since I didn't have any of these in hardcover, only tatty paperbacks, it will make a brilliant addition to my library. Now I just have to wait until November to order them.

Buy a buy and expand your horizons, 25 Jul 2011Review by Barb PI’ve recently started a readers’ group on this site, and I love buying books here. The website serves as a community forum as well as a shop, so it has so much value for all of us as a way of exchanging ideas. I find the books Penguin publishes are more often than not my cuppa tea, and I appreciate that the publisher is careful to select quality work to put into print. I know I can count on Penguin UK. You can too – check it out.

Really lovely specially designed books, 07 Jul 2011Review by Suze C.Although I would not typically shop from Penguin's website (I know I can find better deals at my local bookshop or another website) I saw their clothbound classics in a magazine and had to have them. They're all designed with really fab different artwork on the cover. I'm a bit of a book snob and I usually remove my dust jackets so the shelves look a bit neater and more classy, even if it's a trashy romance. I do have a passion for classics, too, so I went to the Penguin website and ordered 12 of them (there are 24 in total). It would have been 345 pounds for the lot, so I figured half at a time would work better on my budget. So far I have the Jane Austen titles, A Tale of Two Cities and a few others. The illustrations are GORGEOUS, seriously I can't stop looking at these books. I probably won't even read most of them but I just want them to show off. Highly recommend!
