2-for-1 London offersWhenever you book your tickets to travel to London with South West Trains online, you can take advantage of loads of 2-for-1 London offers. These offers range from meals out at all kinds of restaurants and tickets for internationally-acclaimed shows at top-end theatres to entries to famous museums and family-friendly attractions. To claim on the offer, book your tickets to London online, buy your voucher through the 2-for-1 London page on the South West Trains website and present your valid train ticket along with the voucher at the attraction or restaurant in London.
Advance faresPay the lowest price possible by booking your train tickets in advance. Advance fares go on sale around 12 weeks before travel, so if you get in early, not only will you be able to take advantage of the best prices, but you’ll also benefit from the greatest choice of journeys, times and dates. You can still buy advance tickets up to 23:59 on the day before travel, if available. So even if you’re travelling tomorrow, it’s still worth checking online for advance fares if you want to save.
Group discountsIf you’re travelling in a group of 3-9 people, you can save up to 34% when you select the ‘GroupSave’ option under the ‘Railcards and other discounts’ drop-down list when booking your tickets online. If you’re travelling in a group of ten or more people, you can benefit from discounts of up to 26% when you book a ‘Group Travel’ ticket and travel on ‘Off Peak’ or ‘Super Off Peak’ times.
RailcardsFrequent travellers who ride on South West Trains could make huge savings by purchasing a Railcard instead of buying individual tickets for each journey. There are discounted railcards for: senior citizens over 60, young people aged between 16 and 25, people with disabilities, adults who always travel in pairs, travellers who journey within the Network Railcard Area and families of at least one adult and one child. Each Railcard is valid for selected standard and first class tickets and comes with a saving of up to 34% for adults and 60% for children, where applicable.
All Railcards are available to buy for £30 for one year and some are also available to buy for £70 for three years year – except the Disabled Persons Railcard which costs £20 per year and £54 per three years. If you’re sure you’re going to get enough use out of it, you’re best off choosing a three-year Railcard if you want to get best value for money.
