3449312935_77da19443f_bWhether you’re looking for a fun Valentine’s Day idea to impress your girlfriend or just need a weekend escape to look forward to during the dreary winter, a theatre break in London is the perfect getaway. Explore the city, see an amazing show, then head out for a lovely dinner after – and you’ve still got Sunday to relax, enjoy breakfast and do a bit more around London before heading home.

Of course, mention the words “London” and “West End” and suddenly £££ start flashing in front of our eyes. Between a hotel room, pricey theatre tickets, dinner, train tickets, taking the tube … the cost definitely adds up. But what if we said you could plan an overnight theatre break for two for under £250?

Theatre Tickets Direct are running a free hotel with selected show tickets promotion, making it crazy affordable for you to enjoy the West End this winter. That’s right – all you’ll pay for are the tickets to a popular show (from as low as £50 a person), and you’ll get free accommodation at a 3-star London hotel and breakfast!

If you’re looking for something a bit more posh, you can upgrade to a 4 or 5-star property for an additional £25 or £50 per person. You also can save up to 50% off on your transportation through The Train Line – just tick the box that says you need to add rail tickets to your break.

Available shows include favourites like Billy Elliot, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Made in Dagenham, Shakespeare in Love, Thriller and more! As this is a quite popular deal, keep in mind that certain dates and shows might already be booked or cost more, so you would do well to keep an open mind and plan your break around availability/pricing. With such a great deal, it’s definitely worth it though.

Alternatively, you could choose the Thriller Valentine’s Day package from £119 per person, including show tickets, a 4-star hotel, and full English breakfast (valid 14 February only).

After the show it’s time to head out for a nice meal … or if you’re really just in the mood to save more money, why not get some cheeky takeaway? Grab one of our Domino’s Pizza codes and veg out in your hotel room with pizza for a cosy night in – sounds good to me! Sunday morning, tuck into your free breakfast and then continue the no-cost theme by visiting one of the city’s many free museums, like the British Museum, V&A, Museum of London, or Natural History Museum – before heading home.

If you already live in London or you’re close enough to not require a hotel, a ticket and meal deal from Discount Theatre is a great option to save some money. For example, you could see Mamma Mia and have dinner at Fire & Stone in Covent Garden for a mere £29 a person total. Can’t beat that! Keep in mind the better seats and more pricey restaurants will cost more, but you can still grab a deal for well under £100 – much less than you’d expect to pay for two top-price tickets alone.
