Parenting on a budgetLast week, we talked about affordable Halloween costume ideas for kids. This week it’s time for some grown-up fun! If you want to impress with a really amazing costume this year, but don’t have loads of money to spend, not to worry. You don’t have to throw away £35, £40, or more on a cool Halloween costume – we’ve got plenty of ideas all under £30, and some are even less than £20. Keep reading for some fab ideas from pretty to over-the-top scary. Happy Halloween!

I’m not a massive fan of wearing a scary or overly sexy costume, so this spider pattern sequin dress from Jokers Masquerade is totally up my street. I’d wear it with my favourite black fascinator and strappy heels. And at £19.99, you won’t be too upset if you never wear it again.

Another more understated costume: the She Devil (£29.99 at Jokers Masquerade) featuring a simple red dress, sparkly gloves, and devil horns. If you’ve already got a red dress in your closet, even better – just buy the accessories for a super low cost outfit. Wanting to go more casual? Over at Dorothy Perkins, you can get a red poncho with devil ears on the hood (£22), and use our promo code for free standard delivery. Wear it with jeans or black trousers for a “non-costume costume.”

If you’re on a tight budget, you can still get a decent costume for under £15. This skeleton tutu dress is just £12 at F&F and features a glittery top and lined grey and black tutu skirt. So much fun and super girly (or as girly as you can be dressed as a skeleton!).

Looking for something scarier? Very’s got this graveyard bride costume (£22), perfect with some spooky white makeup, or a Curves plus-size zombie nurse (£25) with scary blood spattered detail, available in sizes up to 28-30. Don’t forget some extra fake blood for this one!

Into the whole vampire idea but want something more casual? Pair this “very cool vampire” costume (£27.49 at Jokers Masquerade) with your own jeans or trousers for a modern vamp look! It includes the shirt, waistcoat, and cape.

Less than £20 to spend? Try a onesie! A skeleton onesie (£16.49 at Jokers Masquerade) or Batman onesie (£15 at George at Asda) is a simple costume you could actually wear over and over again to lounge around the house! Or go massively low-key with this F&F skeleton Halloween shirt (£6), perfect for a Halloween night out with the guys.

With the film remake out soon, you’ll be totally on-trend with this Ghostbusters outfit (£20 at George at Asda). The jumpsuit even comes with an inflatable proton pack! Or if The Walking Dead’s more your thing, why not dress like a zombie? This zombie costume (£18.99 at Party Delights) features a jacket with attached mock shirt and tie, all with blood spots and a scary latex chest detail.
