VALENTINE'S DAY

Ah, Valentine’s Day. Love, hearts, flowers … and the pressure to find the perfect gift!  If you’re feeling stressed about the impending holiday, you’re not alone. Everyone says it’s the thought that counts, but we all want a really good present, don’t we? Especially in a new relationship, you want to get it right and impress your partner with something amazing. However, when your budget is small, that can be tricky.

DIY is always a great option when you don’t have a tonne of cash. Check out Pinterest for some easy, cheap (or free!) ideas the kids can make for Mum or Dad, like making handprints on a little jewellery box or other trinket with paint, or decorating a picture frame. Baker Ross have a nice range of Valentine’s Day craft kits you get for a song as well. Framed photos usually go over well, and for a few pounds and the time it takes to get those photos off your mobile and upload them to a site like Truprint or Snapfish, you’ll have a lovely memory your partner can display. Another idea is to tear out a page from a book of love poetry, write a special message on the page and frame it.

If you’re not the DIY sort, don’t fret. With Valentine’s Day just about a week away, you still have a bit of time to order those online gifts – but not much, so better crack on with it. We’ve gathered some of our faves £50 and under so all you have to do is sit back, relax, and order away!

For Her

Ann Summers have up to 50% off lingerie through the end of today (6 February) so you can snag a great deal on a V-day gift, plus use our code for an extra 10% off sale items. This fun black and pink Belisama babydoll is 20% off at checkout (original £40). They’ve also got an entire Valentine’s range, featuring lingerie, toys, fancy dress and more, with many items on sale.

Two dozen red roses are always a classic gift, and you can use our Serenata Flowers code for an extra 10% off. Standard next day delivery is free, so don’t worry if you’ve forgotten to place an order and it’s only a few days before the big day!

Goldsmiths are offering up to 33% off Valentine’s Day gifts, ranging from gorgeous diamonds to jewellery on the more affordable side, like these silver cubic zirconia flower stud earrings (on sale for £24) or this 9ct yellow gold heart bracelet (on sale for £50).

For Him

I love Not on the High Street for unique and handmade gifts, and they’ve got a Valentine’s gift section to give you loads of ideas. Whether your guy would love a personalised leather keychain (£16) or birthstone couples personalised cufflinks (£35), you’ll have a tough time deciding on just one gift.

Give him a day to remember from Virgin Experience Days! Shop the Valentines gifts for him category to find a selection of experience days under £50 like off-road driving, football stadium tours, jet boat rides on the Thames and more, with some of the vouchers discounted up to 50 percent. I’ll be buying the Chelsea tour for two experience, it’s half off at just £16!

For the DIY guy, this personalised shed wooden sign from Qwerkity is a fun gift, and it’s just £19.99. Or get him a B&Q gift card – maybe not the most romantic gift, but he’ll love it and be sure to use it … what more can you ask for?
