 almost free international telephone calls

Note: Most of the info in this post is for US readers, but the same principles for saving money will work in the UK.

Today, just to have a LAN telephone line costs about 30 dollars per month. And if you make phone calls, the costs go up. What many people do not realize is that free calls can be made over the internet. All one needs is a computer and a speaker phone. For a long time, I had a long term deal with a phone company and that plan cost an average of $12, plus the additional costs for voice mail, caller ID, etc. Now we have the internet and if you are at home there is absolutely no excuse for not using the internet to make free phone calls.

There are many companies like MSN, Yahoo, and Skype which offer free phone calls- and of all these Skype is the best. It can even allow one to make computer to computer and computer to mobile phone calls. I have used this service all over the world and the voice is clear and crisp. Occasionally there is a time lag. For all computer to computer based phone calls, the internet services are free. For other service, the rates offered by Skype are cheaper then anything available by a phone company. I pay on average $ 4 a month and make an average of 25 calls a day- all over the world. No one can beat that.

If you have a data plan for your cell phone, you can run Skype on that — the convenience of being on the go, with cheap cheap calling.
