When you go to scour your favorite coupon code sites for the best deals of the day, do you expect to get advice from the Bible? Most people don’t. However, if you’re also a fan of coupon blogs then you may be getting more than just money-saving advice from your daily online reading. You may also be getting a dose of religious medicine thrown in with your deals. Is that really something that you want when shopping to save money?

A recent news article on the topic points out several bloggers who seem to have combined their desire to save money with their own religious way of life. Snippets from these bloggers’ approaches to religious coupon blogging include:

• Considering their blogs to be projects which are spiritually motivated.
• Celebrating saving money as a virtue that is equivalent to religious virtue.
• Quoting directly from the bible in their blogs or in the “about me” of their blogs.
• Attributing their own money-saving abilities to God.
• Expressing that devotion to their blogs is part of their religious devotion.

But what does that have to do with saving money? These bloggers may be offering insight into some great coupon deals but their blogs are also about sharing their spirituality. If that’s what you’re looking for then that’s terrific. But if what you’re looking for is simply some practical tips for saving money using coupon codes then perhaps you’ll want to look to the many other money saving blogs out there that don’t put a spiritual spin on savings.
