John Lewis Travel Insurance Customer Reviews

Covered for our honeymoon to Australia

My wife was insistent on us getting travel insurance for our upcoming honeymoon to Australia, as she's concerned with such a long trip if something goes wrong and so forth. Honestly I've never had travel insurance in my life, but she purchased it for trips on her own, and swears by it. I gave in and got a quote from John Lewis and was surprised at just how reasonable it was, so I bought the policy. I was pleased that you could get the quote online, and it was quite simple to sort everything. I still am not convinced we need it, but at least the price was right and my wife is happy.

Hope you don't need it but if things go wrong......

Well I hope you enjoyed your honeymoon in my home country. Why you need it (as I'm sure you know) is in case you ever need to get repatriated to uk (or even need an upgrade due to a plaster cast on your leg), or (heaven forbid) need to bring a deceased one back home. I guess someone can take the risk ... up to the traveller ... but so often hear pleas for funds to be raised to bring a family member back to UK. Someone one said to me, 'if you can't afford travel insurance, you can't afford to go'. I think John Lewis offers a truly great product.

Loyalty Programme

Partnership Card

If you shop in John Lewis or Waitrose on a regular basis, it’s worth signing up for the John Lewis Waitrose Partnership Card – a great way to save money by spending money! For every £1 you spend in-store and online with Waitrose or John Lewis, you’ll earn one point and for every £2 you spend everywhere else (the card can only be used in places that accept MasterCard, which is currently 32 million outlets worldwide) you’ll receive one point on your Partnership Card. For every batch of 500 points you earn, you’ll receive a £5 voucher which can be used in all Waitrose and John Lewis stores across the nation. Vouchers are sent out quarterly, so you can continue to enjoy the benefits all-year-round. The John Lewis Waitrose Partnership Card has a representative 16.9% APR variable and offers interest-free credit on all your purchases in the first six months. To apply for a Partnership Card, you need to be 18+, be a permanent UK resident, have a minimum household income of £4,000 per year and have a good credit history.

Extra Money Saving Tips

Prize Draws

If you regularly shop at Waitrose or John Lewis, but aren’t in the market for a credit card, entering the prize draws to win store vouchers is another great way to save cash. Store voucher giveaways are held regularly throughout the year and all you need to do to enter is fill out a short form on the website. Of course, nothing is free and the form you need to fill out includes the renewal dates of your insurance policies, so you can expect to receive a few sales and marketing emails each time one of your insurance policies is due to expire.

Multi-trip policy vs single-trip policy

John Lewis offers two main types of travel insurance – the multi-trip policy and the single-trip policy. Although the multi-trip policy is always more expensive than the single-trip policy, it will work out cheaper overall if you plan on taking more than two trips within a single year. If you’re only planning on travelling once or twice within the year, you’ll be better off taking out one or two single-trip policies.
