Find My Past Customer Reviews

A more complicated and work than I thought

A lot of my friends have used this website to trace their family trees so I thought I would give it a go and see if I could do the same. I found the website a very daunting affair from the very beginning because there is so much to look at on it the moment you bring it up on the computer screen but after a while I did get the hang of it, although it was very complicated for a simple person like me to start off with.

I had to dig around to find all the information that was needed to start the search off, so it seemed to take me ages to get all the right information before I could even begin tracing my family tree, which I guess was to be expected. I thought it was a bit expensive too, but then I checked out a few other sites that offer the same thing and I suppose this is the price you have to pay to find out about your family history although I did think the time limit of 90 days was too short a time to give people, especially as it took me so long to dig out all the info I needed to start my own search.

By the end though I was completely satisfied with the information about my family history which I traced way back to my great, great, great grandfather who was Irish. I suppose tracing back that many generations is pretty good considering. As you only do this once for yourself the service is not that expensive, but I would advise others to be more prepared for all the info needed before starting such a search because you need to have it all ready otherwise you have to stop and start again otherwise.

I'm learning so much about myself

My whole family has really enjoyed using Find My Past for researching our family history. I couldn’t believe how much fun it was. I’m still checking in twice a day to see if there are any updates, and I can’t wait to research each and every one of them. It’s so fun to find photos of ancestors through here and to learn about the hardships they faced and overcame, which help pave the road for my being her, as well as my loved ones. It’s really brilliant. I started with the 14-day free trial, and I haven’t looked back since. I recommend everyone do the same.

It takes time to find what you want, but it's worth the hours

I didn't realise how many hours I'd spend completely engrossed in Find my Past when I signed up for the trial, and honestly if I did maybe I wouldn't have (ha ha) but honestly, it was certainly worth the time and money spent to date. I've found out things about my family I never imagined, like how my great grandfather was one of five kids and only two survived. The site takes some getting used to, but once you have the hang of it, its easy to use, and there's always help on the site if you need it. I would highly recommend looking into this if you've ever been curious about the past and where you come from.

Shopping Tips for Find My Past

Offers and Deals for You

Free Trial

Not sure whether you want to pay to use Find My Past? Then take advantage of their free trial offer. The free trial allows you to try the one-month or 12-month package for a fortnight without paying a single penny. Although the trial is free, you will have to type in your credit card information when you sign up for it. This means that as soon as the 14-day free trial is over, Find My Past will start to charge you for your subscription. So if you decide that you don’t want to pay to use the website, make sure you cancel your subscription before your free trial is up.

Extra Money Saving Tips

12-Month Membership is Best Value for Money

If after you’ve test-ran the free 14-day trial, you decide that you do want to pay to use the Find My Past website, you’re best off opting for the 12-month membership instead of the one-month membership. As long as you’re going to be using the website regularly for the whole year, the 12-month package works out best value for money at just £8.29 per month, compared to the one-month package which is priced at £9.95 per month. Keep in mind that whichever subscription you pick, it will automatically renew a couple of days before it’s due to expire. So if you don’t want to continue paying to use the Find My Past website, make sure you cancel your membership or turn off the automatic renewal in the ‘My Account’ area of the website at least five days before the expiry date to ensure another payment isn’t taken.

Buy Pay-As-You-Go-Credits Instead of a Membership

Of course, the only way a one-month or 12-month subscription works out good value for money is that if you use the website regularly the whole time. If you don’t think you’ll get that much use out of it, you’ll be better off buying pay-as-you-go credits instead. You can purchase a pack of 60, 300 or 900 credits, each of which is only valid for 90 days. However, if you have expired credits and then purchase another batch of credits, the original expired credits will be re-added to your account and will be valid for an extra 90 days. So make sure you keep a hold of your account details!
