Lonely Planet Customer Reviews
I've bought plenty of guidebooks from Lonely Planet in my local bookshop but when they didn't have the Egypt guide I wanted, I went straight to the Lonely Planet site. I quickly found it by clicking on the map and added the guide to my cart, but the book was at least a few pounds more than I'd normally pay at my local shop (where they frequently run sales). At least I had a voucher code so in the end I wound up paying just a bit more after you factor in shipping.
This site looks and feels just like the travel books, only here I can get lots of background information and history about destinations for free, and I can look for actual holidays by searching for flights and hotels. It’s a one-stop shop place for planning any trip, and I love it. It helps me feel really well informed before I travel. I’m off to Canada next month, and I’ve just been reading about all the wildlife there. This site offers lovely imagery from around the world and is full of well-written articles on travel-related topics. Check it out.
I'm helping my daughter plan her gap year, and Lonely Planet has been brilliant. Very informative articles and safety tips which a parent can certainly appreciate, info on the cultures etc. can all be found online and I enjoy reading up on the different destinations. I ordered several travel guides here, as we don't live close to any bookshops that carry the ones we needed, one of the downsides of being out in the country. The books are fantastic and I have to say put my mind at ease about her travelling everywhere if she is armed with knowledge. My husband and I are actually joining her in South Africa at one point, so it was nice to be able to plan our holiday as well. Thanks!
