New season, new beauty routine! With summer days firmly behind us, it’s time to reassess your skincare, makeup, nails, and even perfume and do a bit of a re-haul.

When it comes to nail colour, those bright corals, sparkly aquas, and bubblegum pinks look slightly out of place paired with heavy jumpers, scarves, and hats. Think deep plums, burnt oranges, deep greens, and rich burgundies. I’m personally a massive fan of a black nail, or a nice cocoa brown as well. I just went for a shellac manicure today and chose a really lovely deep plum, perfect for October. For a similar look, I’m loving this Nails Inc. Sloane Mews polish, on sale for £11.20 at Lookfantastic.

Same thoughts go for makeup colours: darker, slightly more serious shades play well for the colder months, but that doesn’t mean they’ve got to be boring. I do love a bold red lip any time of year, but a darker red is wonderful for autumn. Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick in Pleasure Me Red is a fun choice, and it’s just £6.99 plus buy one, get one half price when you choose other selected Maybelline products at Superdrug. For eyes, I tend to gravitate toward shades of brown for the autumn months, and of course you can’t go wrong with black eyeliner. If you’re on a budget, you can get the Rimmel Glam’Eyes quad eyeshadow in smokey brown 2 for only £6.99 at Superdrug.

As for your skincare routine, more time indoors in dry air will necessitate a richer, heavier moisturiser for face, hands, and body. In summer, I don’t have to worry much – if at all – about dry skin, and I can get away without using body lotion or thinking much about my skincare. But as soon as autumn rolls around, I have to up my attention and be a bit more vigilant about keeping everything moisturised and looked after. One of my favourites, Decleor Neroli Essential Night Balm, makes my skin super soft and also clears up any blemishes. It’s one of those products you can literally see results after one night, which is hard to come by! Find it on sale for £28.80 at Lookfantastic.

Autumn is a great time to update your fragrance game as well. Replacing your summery, fruity, light scents with something a bit more seasonally appropriate is another way to transition your mind and body into the new season. Using a few tester bottles at shops will give you a good place to start, because no one wants to order a fragrance and online, lured in by great reviews or a low price, and then realize they hate it in person! A few picks under £45:

Vera Wang Princess, a sophisticated floral, is one of the week’s Star Buys at Superdrug, and you can get it for an amazing £25 (normally £60!).

A great everyday fragrance, Burberry Touch, is a mere £19.95 at Half Price Perfumes.

At The Fragrance Shop, check out a range of perfumes for her at up to 60% off. DKNY Be Delicious (£27) reminds me of an apple pie, or going to an orchard, some of my favourite things about autumn!
