Halloween is just around the corner, but there’s still time to find a fab costume if you’re going to a fancy dress party this year. Whether you want to play it safe or make a statement, there are loads of ideas out there to make your Halloween the best ever.
Dressing like a witch is pretty standard, but if you want to jazz it up a bit and go more girlie than scary, try this colourful cutie witch from Fancy Dress Outfitters. For a change of pace, this “Ripunzel” costume from Angels Fancy Dress is sure to get you noticed, and if you’re not afraid to show some skin, Ann Summers has a range of Halloween costumes, including this sexy vampire.
Of course, there’s always the DIY route, and in that case the only limit is your imagination. Grab a black cloak, grey sweater, stripey tie and skirt and you could be a character straight out of Harry Potter, or dress in all black and make ears out of fabric and a headband, and you’ve got a simple catwoman costume.
For a twist on the zombie costume, check out the high school zombie footballer from Jokers’ Masquerade, or if you’re going the funny route, you probably won’t see anyone else dressed in this Party Domain costume called “Hellvis” (just under 14 quid).
As for DIY ideas, find a white doctors-style jacket and splatter it with fake blood, wear some glasses and muss up your hair for a mad scientist. You could be a regular Edward Cullen (or any vampire for that matter) with some fake blood and comedy fangs paired with your regular clothes.
Unless they’re too small to have an opinion yet, your kids are definitely going to have a say in their choice of costume. As long as their request is reasonable, let them pick it themselves. If you’re a fan of DIY, Disney Family Fun has a massive list of creative ideas that are fairly easy to make.
