The six-week summer holiday is almost over and parents all around the country are counting down the days until they can get some peace and quiet again – but first they have to tackle the back to school shop.

By now uniform and shoes are all sorted, labelled and ready for the first day back. But what about the stationery?

I remember as a kid loving nothing more than dragging my mum shopping for school supplies – the fresh new notes books, the shiny new pencils and as many scented gel pens as I could get my hands on.

None of this comes cheap though, unless you know where to look. Places such as Poundland are great for cheap stationery items. If you set a budget of just £10 and make it a challenge to get everything you need for that price, then you can have fun to.

Asda and Card Factory have bumper sets of stationery for just £4.99 including pen, pencils, felt tips, ruler, sharpener and notebooks. They have character versions as well if your kids want something a bit different, including Marvel and emoji.

The Works have a fantastic back to school range including bumper sets for just £5 and even better if you pick up an in-store leaflet, on the back you will find a 15% off when you spend £10 voucher.

WHSmith are also doing a similar offer on their back to school range. Before heading in pick up one of their in-store leaflets and on the back you will find a £5 off voucher when you spend £20 or more in store. If you have a NUS card you can also claim an extra 20% off as well.
