Saga Home Insurance Customer Reviews

Great cover, very efficient customer service

When I was looking online for home building and contents insurance quotes I found that although Saga weren't quite the cheapest, they weren't far off. I searched for quotes for several different types of insurance and Saga were always one of the lowest prices. I have claimed once on my buildings insurance and when I called to claim the staff could not have been more efficient or helpful. They were extremely polite, helped me to be on the phone for as little time as possible and sorted my claim so that it didn't interfere with my day-to-day life as these things so often can. Although the premium obviously went up after I made a claim and it was quite an increase, I'm still extremely happy to pay it if I don't have to worry about who will pick up the phone at the other end and if they'll be happy to help me. Having a dedicated claims handler definitely helped because it minimised the amount of people I had to speak to each time and made the experience much more straight forward. Great customer care, they answered all my questions patiently and I would thoroughly recommend them.

Happy with the quote from Saga

My wife and I decided to move house and one of the first tasks to tick off was switching home insurance companies. We were paying too much, so I considered Saga since they cater to the over 50s. It was really easy to get a quote online and I liked everything I read about them on the site. The questions didn't take too long to answer and we had a reasonable quote in a few minute's time. With all of the benefits, it really made no sense to continue using the other company so we switched to Saga straight away. I can't say I regret it and it's been nice saving some money on our policy.

Shopping Tips for Saga Home Insurance

Offers and Deals for You

Online Discount

If you’re thinking about taking out Saga Home Insurance over the phone instead of online, forget about it. By simply signing up for your policy online, you’ll benefit from a discount of up to 20%, compared to the price you’d be quoted if you rang up.

Landlord Multi-Property Discount

When you take out landlord insurance with Saga Home Insurance, you’ll get a 10% discount for every additional property you insure. So if you own several properties and each of them is insured by a different company, it could be worth switching them all over to Saga so you can get the discount. It could work out much cheaper this way.

Free Worldwide Valuables Cover

All Saga TailorMade policies include worldwide cover for your valuables at no extra cost. If having worldwide cover is important to you, it could work out cheaper overall to opt for Saga’s comprehensive TailorMade insurance policy, instead of taking out a more basic insurance policy with another company and then paying extra for worldwide cover.

Extra Money Saving Tips

Follow Saga Online

Be in with the chance of bagging yourself all sorts of goodies by following Saga online. The insurance and holiday provider has active social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter where they post competitions you can enter to win everything from DVDs and gardening equipment to concert tickets, plus exclusive holiday offers and general interest posts. Each of the social media channels is updated several times every day, so check in as often as you can if you want to keep up with the latest goings on.

Transfer Charges Paid

If you’ve been put off from switching from your old insurance provider to Saga because you’re concerned about having to pay transfer charges, you really don’t need to be. Saga Home Insurance will pay you up to £25 to cover the cost of transfer charges applied by your current insurer when you take out a new home insurance policy with them.

Essential vs Premier

Saga’s Essential home insurance policy is the always the cheapest option and although it’s also the most limited, the difference between it and the more expensive Premier policy isn’t really that much. For example, when it comes to the buildings cover, the only differences are that the Premier policy includes full accidental damage cover within the home, a no claims discount, personal belongings cover and replacement of matching items. So if you’re looking for the best price possible, you should choose the Essential policy and pay extra for the additional cover options, if you really need them.
